Become Fearless. Leaving your country for good or for a longer time can be scary. You make your way off, you are leaving your comfort zone out to the unknown. Yes, this is the problem – the UNKNOWN. That is it what creates fear. The human brain tends to dramatize everything that is unknown as a defensive mechanism. Fearful pictures in the mind arise, negative thoughts appear. Can I survive there? Where will I sleep? Where or what can I eat? Can I make enough money to financially support my life? Am I going to have friends? What if I get homesick? Dealing with loneliness is a very serious concern. What if it turns out as the biggest mistake in my life?
Here are a few tips and tricks from my site to take away your fear.
1. DESIRE.
Make yourself aware of what it is that you want and why do you want it. Write it down on a paper or type it down on your computer or mobile phone. It is vital that you have it written down somewhere on a note so that you can see it and review it. The bigger your desire is the better it is. Desire reduces the fear. Dream big. A self-analysis will encourage you and help to take away your fear. When you really want something so much then it is desire. And this desire will eventually force you to make a first step to make your dream became true.
2. PREPARATION.
A well-thought-out plan will help you to overcome your fear. We live in a time where we have an abundance of knowledge sources around us. We can easily gain all information we desire, thanks to technologization and the internet. There are so many platforms that connect us to the world. YouTube, Facebook – all offer great content. Get your fear away by getting more and more knowledge. Knowledge is power. Read articles about the culture, the destination itself, places to go, see photos about the natives. You will see friendly people exist in every country. Make a list with all the information you believe are useful. Compare the prices of a few hotels, houses, apartments, google food stores, supermarkets and look at their variety. Make a list to summarize your results and you may want to add more details to the list over a time period to have it complete, full of information.
3. VISUALIZATION.
See yourself being there. Go mentally through all the steps. It can start from packing your luggage, going to sleep, getting up, going to the airport, landing, taking a shuttle bus or taxi, getting to your accommodation and so on. You get the point. Daydream about your life there. Most likely there will be a fear of missing family, friends that you leave behind. Visualize staying in contact with them through emails, messages, video phone calls. See and feel the joy to meet again and learn that you will appreciate the people you have in your life even more through the distance. The more pictures you awake in yourself the faster will your fear disappear. Visualization is the key.
FINAL WORDS.
I want to add some last words to close this topic. Even if you make mistakes, it’s okay. Those are experiences that will make you better. One very good friend said to me: “Don’t worry, be happy. Don’t think so much, just do it!”.
